The God-Saves-Christ-Son of God (Part 1) | Mark 1:1-15

Mark opens his gospel account by loading the very first verse with titles; Jesus (God saves), Christ (the long-awaited anointed prophet-priest-king), and Son of God (both eternal deity and the true, faithful Son that Israel and Adam failed to be); so that grasping these titles unlocks the whole book, and John the Baptist's ministry of water baptism only foreshadows the greater Spirit-baptism only the divine Jesus can give.
