Paul's opening argument in the Romans 'great parenthesis' shows that God's wrath is already being revealed against everyone; Jew and Gentile alike; because they suppress the truth about God plainly seen in creation and conscience, exchanging the Creator for idols; the resulting moral corruption (including but not limited to sexual sin) is evidence of that wrath, proving all people need not moral effort but the rescuing righteousness of God given through Christ's atonement.
