Scripture is the Christian's tradition and its priority is the gospel itself; Christ's death, burial, and resurrection; so the church must not retrieve Christianity as an ancient relic but continually receive the living Christ who speaks through his word.

Paul's reminder to the Corinthians shows that the gospel is not merely the door into salvation but the very destination of the Christian life, so holding fast means resting moment by moment in Christ's finished accomplishments rather than trusting our own performance.

The story of Noah is good news because it points to Jesus: the ark is God's vessel of salvation into which we enter by faith, the covenant reveals God's patient mercy toward a humanity whose heart remains evil, and the rainbow signals that God's judgment has been turned away from us onto Christ at the cross.

Genesis 4 exposes the honest truth that sin is a self-turned, devouring power crouching in the human heart, but it also reveals God's shocking mercy; mercy that finds its full resolution in the blood of Jesus, which speaks a better word than Abel's blood by offering grace instead of only justice.
