Jesus cleansed the temple not merely because of exchange-rate corruption but because the whole sacrificial system had replaced God's intended purpose; a place where Gentiles and all nations could freely access God; with a system that controlled and monetized access to him; Jesus, as the true Son of David, both builds and is the true house of God, now fulfilled in the church, his body, where all people have access to God through faith in Christ.
