Is He Talking to Me?

Jesus' inaugural sermon at Nazareth, reading Isaiah's promise of good news to the poor, freedom for captives, sight for the blind, and liberty for the oppressed, was a threat to the comfortable religious elite; and it remains a direct, uncomfortable summons to privileged Christians today to confront the systems of poverty, mass incarceration, and oppression of immigrants and marginalized people in our own country.
