A sermon on 1 Timothy 4

Paul establishes a graduated order of responsibility for the care of widows; children, then grandchildren, then believing relatives; so that the church's limited resources are reserved only for women who are truly alone, godless of family, and marked by a credible, faithful life; underlying this is the conviction that women are meant to be under the protective care of men (father, husband, or the church's elders).
