Living a truly great life comes from loving your neighbor as yourself, which requires first receiving God's love for yourself rightly (neither too little nor too much), then seeing every person without exception as your neighbor, and finally loving them with agape; a sacrificial, active love modeled on Christ's cross rather than mere feeling.

Loving God is not primarily about meticulous law-keeping like the Pharisees practiced, but about whole-self devotion and letting ourselves be loved by God, since we were created for relationship rather than rule-following.

True, unshakable joy is found not in circumstances but in the nearness of a present God, and Paul calls believers to fight for that joy by pouring out raw, honest prayer to God and by staying anchored in the truth of Scripture rather than the shifting truths of culture.
