The resurrection of Jesus was necessary; not merely to be celebrated once a year; because it proves Christ's deity, reveals the saving power of his death by securing our justification, and gives ultimate purpose and value to the believer's faith and labor.

Christ's being 'delivered' to the cross in John 19 was not passive victimhood but a deliberate self-giving act, and that same deliverance now frees believers from slavery to sin, moving them from Adam's 'able to sin' condition toward the future hope of being 'not able to sin' at Christ's return.
